HMS E13

HMS E13

HMS "E13" was a British E class submarine built by HM Dockyard, Chatham. "E13" was laid down on 16 December 1912 and was commissioned on 9 December 1914. The hull cost £101,900.

HMS "E13" had a relatively short career during World War One. The submarine ran aground near Saltholm island between Malmö and Copenhagen. "E13" came under fire from two German destroyers on 18 August 1915. 15 crew members were killed but a Danish torpedo boat, "Soloven", prevented "E13"'s destruction. The Danes then interned the remaining crew and boat on 3 September 1915.

The Danes sold HMS "E13" to the Danish ship breakers for scrap on 14 December 1921.
