"Everything" is a 1997 song by R&B singer Mary J. Blige. Written and produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, it was released as the third single from Blige's third album, "Share My World".

Recording

The song features samples of The Stylistics' "You Are Everything" - also included Blige's vocal interpretation of the song in the song's chorus, and James Brown's "The Payback" and also included vocal re-interpolations of A Taste of Honey's hit "Sukiyaki".

Release and reaction

Released in the fall of 1997, the song (which later featured a D-Nice-sampled remix produced by Jermaine Dupri), reaching number twenty-four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, number five on the the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number six on the UK Singles Chart, which in turn gave Blige her first top ten hit in the UK. The Music Video was filmed in Maui.
