The Deluge - Swedish invasion of Poland in 1650s - he led akonfederacja , military rebellion againsthetman Janusz Radziwiłł who betrayed the Commonwealth and allied himself with the Swedes. Later he joined theTyszowce Confederation .He was one of the Polish commanders in the
Russo-Polish War (1654–1667) , he fought in thebattle of Połonka . After the war hes supported the Polish kings, opposing among others theLubomirski's Rokosz .Samuel Kmicic may have served as the inspiration to fictional
