American Schools and Hospitals Abroad

The American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) program from with world wide networks. ASHA conducts global programs, for strengthening self-sustaining of schools, libraries and medical centers that best demonstrate American ideas and practices abroad.

ASHA has assisted 198 institutions in over 62 countries, and facilitated the development of superior libraries, schools, and medical centers, thus positively impacting the regions of Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Near East. The ASHA office currently manages a worldwide portfolio of over 100 grants and continues to award approximately 25 new grants every year.

ASHA grants are awarded to assist in capital improvements such as building or renovation of facilities, scientific, medical and educational equipment.

ASHA also Provide foreign nationals the benefits of American ideas and practices in education and medicine sector, Serve as demonstration and study centers which foster interchange, mutual intelligibility, and favorable relations with the United States and promote civil societies.
