Lloyd Saltman

Lloyd Saltman (born 10 September 1985) is a professional golfer from Gorebridge, Scotland, where he attended Penicuik High School. His home golf club is Craigielaw Golf Club [http://www.craigielawgolfclub.com] in East Lothian, Scotland.

Saltman had a very successful career as an amateur golfer, winning 36 championships including the 2003 Scottish Boys’ Championship, 2005 Brabazon Trophy, 2005 St Andrews Links Trophy, 2007 Irish Amateur Championship, 2007 Lytham Trophy, and the 2007 Scottish Champion of Champions.

In 2005 Saltman finished 15th in The Open Championship at St Andrews, receiving the Silver Medal for top amateur.

Saltman was a member of the 2003 Scottish and GB&I Boys’ Teams, 2003 to 2007 Scottish and GB&I Teams, and competed for Great Britain and Ireland in two Walker Cup matches (2005 and 2007). In September 2007 Saltman joined the ranks of professional golfers but did not succeed in gaining his tour card at European Tour Qualifying School at Arcos Gardens, Spain in November 2007.

In December 2007 Saltman qualified for the Asian Tour by finishing in 31st position at the Asian Tour School held in Sutera Harbour GCC and Sabaj GC, Malaysia. In his first Asian Tour start in February 2008, Saltman was 17th in the SAIL Open Championship at Jaypee Gardens Golf Course, New Delhi.

Saltman spent the first half of 2008 playing in various events on the Asian Tour and Challenge Tour as well as the occasional event on the PGA European Tour. In July 2008, he achieved a significant result in the PGA European Tour, finishing in 6th place in the Russian Open in Moscow.
