"Ursa Major" is the upcoming fourth studio album from San Francisco Alternative rock band Third Eye Blind. Originally, it was titled "The Hideous Strength", after C.S. * "Persephone" Arion Salazar, the band's original bassist, played on Red Star, Monotov's Private Opera, Now I Don't Know, Carnival Barker and Swimming. Carnival Barker was originally released on the band's myspace page as a 7 minute instrumental, and reportedly the title came from the fact that Stephan Jenkins sounded likea Carnival Barker while singing. Album delay
The album has been in the works since shortly after 2003's "Out of the Vein"; however, Jenkins has been suffering from writer's block and was not able to finish the lyrics until recently. The band headed back to the studio in May to finish recording, and the album is expected to be released in February 2009, although the first suggestions of its release date back to 2006.
