Julius Amedme was born
June 6 1977 and is an independent filmmaker. With a burning desire to make movies since he was 5 years old, Julius made his first film aged 16 about the controversial subject of safe sex. At the age of 19 he started making music videos, documentaries and short films as a hobby. After gaining a 2:1 honors degree in Communication and Technology fromRavensbourne College of Design and Communication at the age of 25. Its has only been within the last 5 years whilst writing, producing and directing within his professional career he has gained recognition for three short films called "The Meeting", "The Phone Call", and "The Video Tape".In 2003 Julius won a best
Cinematography and Best Actor awards at the Kent Film festival for his short film "The Meeting".In 2004 Julius received a nomination from the 12thPan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and 5 nominations from the 5th BFM film festival for his short film "The Phone Call". Julius went on to win the Best Screenplay award at BFM film festival. He then won a Millennium Award for his short film "The Video Tape". Julius was also nominated for an Emerging talent award at theScreen Nation film and television awards 2004 plus aGhana Professional Achievement award.In 2007 Julius was nominated for an
Independent Spirit Award in Film Production at The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards and also nominated for Best Director for a First Feature and Festival Vision award for Best Feature at the 15th Pan African Film Festival for his first independent feature film called "A Goats Tail", which he wrote produced and directed. He won Festival Vision award for Best FeatureJulius has had his work screened on various British and American satellite TV stations Such as
OBE TV , ACTV, The Community Channel,Channel U TV ,BET andMTV BASE . His work has been screened at film festivals inLos Angeles ,New York ,Atlanta ,Chicago ,San Francisco ,South Africa ,Belgium ,Italy ,Ireland andFrance .
