Blas (Radio Ulster)

Blas is BBC Radio Ulster’s lively Irish language magazine programme whichcan be heard every weeknight at 7pm. Each evening Blas gives listeners a 30-minute programme with special guests and performances, chat, craic, news, reviews,previews and views in general. Presented by Lynette Fay, Karen Kirby and
Eoghan Ó Néill, the programme features everything from schools, sport and scienceto music, entertainment and current affairs. Put simply, Blas covers every subject, the onlydifference is that it does it through the medium of Irish.

Each year Blas gets out and about and visits linguistic, cultural and community eventsthroughout Northern Ireland and beyond, including The William Kennedy Piping Festivalin Armagh, The Open House festival in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter and Oireachtasna Gaeilge. The programme prides itself on its work with schools with the annual Gael-Linn public speaking competition, Abair.

Karen and Lynette present Blas on Mondays and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm.Eoghan Ó Néill presents the programme on Wednesday nights at 7pm.

Karen Kirby also presents The Late Show every Saturday night at 10pm.

Lynette Fay also presents An Domhnach Mór/Big Sunday during the GAAChampionship Season.
