Unstabilized approach

Unstabilized approach

An unstabilized approach is an approach during which an aircraft does not maintain at leastone of the following variables stable: speed, descent rate, vertical/lateral flight path and inlanding configuration. Unstabilized approaches account for most approach and landing accidents. For this reason, an approach should be stabilized by 1000 feet above runway altitude, otherwisea go-around should be considered by the pilot.
