This chiton is found at depths of between 10 and 30 m.
Description
The shell is small, -, with the lateral areas sharply raised, and the sunken central area bearing deep longitudinal pits, nine to ten on each side. The girdle is packed with exceedingly fine elongated scales.
Coloration is variable, with pale streaks down the dorsal ridge, to uniformly brick-red.
Length is up to 22 mm, and the width is up to 9 mm.
