International Institute of Risk and Safety Management

International Institute of Risk and Safety Management is a UK-based body for safety practitioners. It was established in 1975 and has the status of a company limited by guarantee and is registered with the Charity Commission. It has over 7800 members in over 60 countries [ [http://www.iirsm.org/ IIRSM website] ] . It publishes a members' newsletter and organizes meetings.

Membership Grades

*Fellow (FIIRSM) By application after 5 years at Member level
*Member (MIIRSM) Requires a recognised diploma or equivalent qualification and relevant experience as a safety practitioner
*Associate (AIIRSM) Requires a recognised certificate or equivalent qualification and relevant experience as a safety practitioner
*Student For those working towards the qualifications for Associate or Member
*Affiliate For those involved in accident prevention and occupational health and safety but who do not qualify for a designated grade of membership, or are in a related discipline.
