Gynaecothoenas, "the god feasted by women", was an
epithet of the Ancient Greek godAres atTegea .In a war of the Tegeatans against the
Lacedaemonian kingCharillus , the women of Tegea made an attack upon the enemy from anambuscade . This decided the victory.
