Lakewood Ranch High School is located in eastern
Manatee County . LRHS opened in August 1998 and serves a community of primarily professional families. LRHS is a four-year comprehensive high school with an enrollment of 1,942. Of the professional faculty of 142, over 30 percent have earned a master’s degree or higher. LRHS is accredited by theSouthern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).Student activities / athletics
LRHS offers over 35 extracurricular activities including academic and service clubs, performing arts, television production, and special interest groups. Teams at the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity level compete in 13 sports sanctioned by the
Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA).Lakewood Ranch Marching Band
The Lakewood Ranch Marching Mustangs are competitive and travel throughout the state and country. Band Directors are Robert Schaer (1998) and Chad Guess (2008) In December 2006, the band flew to Arizona to compete in the Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship. This was the band's second time attending the event. In the Grand Masters or overall aspect of the competition, Lakewood Ranch received second place, beating out Casa Grande Union High School from Casa Grande, AZ, Centennial High School from Franklin, TN, Brookside High School, NY, and McQueen High School from Reno, NV, who all placed in the competition. Lakewood was beaten by Columbus North High School from Columbus, IN. The Lakewood Ranch Marching Band also won first place for percussion and first place for auxiliary.
Television production
LRHS also offers a television production course. It produces the morning announcements, "Mustang Magazine", and a cable show, "Lakewood Live" on EDVTV. The school's television production program has also entered short films into the
Sarasota Film Festival , but have not won anything from it. The school has its own HD capable television studio. The school's CCTV channel uses the call letters WLRH-TV3 and the show "Mustang Magazine" is broadcast to the school everyday of the week at 8:48am, except on Wednesday. WLRH-TV3 has recently gone on to the popular video website,YouTube , and has uploaded every show since the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year.Notable Students/Graduates

- Students who are 18 (or younger, with parental consent), can give blood at monthly drives at the school. The student typically receives a free lunch for doing so.
