Loyola School, Chennai

Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School is an English medium School for boys in Kodambakkam, Chennai, India. The school is run by the Catholic Diocese in Chennai, and is approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The school was started in the 1970's by the Jesuits, who ran Loyola College in Chennai. The school shares its campus with Fatima Church. Originally, only the Church was here, and later when a need for a school for the children belonging to the Parish was identified, a small elementary school was started within the Church campus. The school was named after Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the Patron Saint of the Jesuits. Later, as the students enrollment increased a proper school structure was built and the courses offered were extended till the 10th Std. Eventually, the school was handed over to the Catholic Diocese in Chennai by the Jesuits. Later on, more structures were built and the school gained Higher Secondary status, offering courses till the 12th Std.

Today, the school offers courses right from the L.K.G till the 12th Std. Till the 10th Std. the school comes under the Matriculation Board of Tamil Nadu, while for the 11th and the 12th Std., the school follows the Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus. The school is headed by a Correspondent, who is also the Parish Priest of Fatima Church. The Principal is the academic head of the school. At present, Rev. Fr. Ambrose is the school Correspondent, and Mrs. Daisy Felix is the school Principal.
