John Hambrock was born and raised in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The youngest of 3 boys from a typical working-class household, he would call Ft. Wayne his home until leaving for college at the age of 18. John didn't want to grow up to be a cartoonist. In fact, it was marine biology that captured his attention during his early years. Though science was something in which he had always taken an interest, it was the arts that finally won him over.cite web

His company specializes in industrial advertising, packaging and print design, with a client list that includes major industrial and retail manufacturers, as well as one of the country’s leading law firms .
Family
In 1986, Hambrock married Anne, a woman he had known since high school. When John embarked on creating a daily cartoon strip, Anne became the driving force in helping him achieve success in this new cartooning career. They have two sons and a daughter.
