Upperman High School is a public high school located in Baxter, Tennessee. It is part of the Putnam County, Tennessee School District. Upperman includes grades 9-12 and a PreK program. Upperman was listed as one of the United State's best high schools by U.S. News and World Reports in 2008. [cite web

History

Upperman opened with an enrollment of 363 students from grades 9-12 with Dave C. Huddleston as its first principal on August 22 1959. It opened on the same campus of the former private school Baxter Seminary. In 1976, a new school was opened and enrollment was increased to include grades 7-12. On January 6, 2003, the new Upperman campus was opened for the first day of classes. Across town at the original Upperman, a new 5-8 grade Cornerstone Middle School also had its first day of classes.

Sports

Upperman has won two TSSAA State Championships for baseball [ [http://www.tssaa.org/schdir/records/GetRecords.cfm Get State Records ] ] . The Upperman Lady Bees Girls' Basketball team also has two state runner-ups. In the past two years, the Lady Bees have made the Final Four of the Class AA State Tournament. Club

Upperman also sports a number of clubs including Latin club and th Acedemic Team.Pep club is by far the most popular club since it allows for free admittion into footballs games to members.A full list includes:Drama club,Mu Alpha Theta,FFA,HOSA,Beta,Pep club,Academic Team,and Student Government.

Color Guard and Band (commonly reffered to as the Regiment of Black by its members) is also included in the club category at Upperman.
