Raymond J. Parker, Jr also known as Buddy Parker is a politician from Jeffersonville, Indiana who has served as the police chief of Jeffersonville, the Sheriff of Clark County, the mayor of Jeffersonville, the county treasurer, the County Council, and as a County Commissioner.

Biography

He served as the Chief of Police when Richard Vissing was mayor and hired the first females onto the department. [ [http://www.news-tribune.net/archivesearch/local_story_179170926.html The News and Tribune - Police pioneer retiring from Jeff’s force ] ] His service as the Sheriff in the late 1970's to the early 1980's boasted standardizing their uniforms and the start of the take home police vehicles program. He was a one term mayor of Jeffersonville from 1992 to 1995. [ [http://orig.courier-journal.com/localnews/2004/05/06in/B1-parker0506-1-7837.html After loss, Parker won't seek office again ] ] During his one term as mayor he worked for extending sewer lines, revitalizing the river front economy, and a campaigned for a Casino river boat. Voters rejected the Casino idea in a referendum. Raymond didn't seek re-election as mayor and went into County Government. While working as a County Commissioner he worked on the expansion of the Clark County Jail, but left office before its completion in 2005. While on the County Commissioners Board he served as its Chairman.
