- Ecological literacy
Ecological literacy (also referred to as "ecoliteracy" [http://www.hent.org/ecoliteracy.htm] ) is the ability to understand the natural systems that make
life onearth possible. The term was coined by American educatorDavid W. Orr in the 1990s [David W. Orr , Ecological Literacy: Education and the Transition to a Postmodern World, S.U.N.Y. Press (1992)] . An ecologically literate society would be a sustainablesociety which did not destroy thenatural environment on which they depend.References
