Valley News Live

Valley News Live

Valley News Live is the branding of television stations KVLY-TV and KXJB-TV in Fargo, North Dakota. Hoak Media owns and operates KVLY and shares studios with KXJB through a Local Marketing Agreement.

The stations started simulcasting weekend news in April 2007, co-anchored by Donn Robertson and Lisa Budeau, weather with Lisa Green and sports with Brian Shawn. The same news is broadcasted on both channels. KXJB uses its "4" bug, while KVLY uses the "11" bug during newscasts.

In November 2007, it was announced KVLY and KXJB would expand their simulcasting to the weekdays as well, and on November 5, 2007 that occurred. The new news branding is called "Valley News Live".

Morning and midday

*Mick Kjar and Michelle Turnberg host the Valley Today on both KVLY and KXJB, with Steve Poitras and Matt Granite contributing live reports.
*Michelle Turnberg anchors news at noon on KXJB with Shawna Olson doing the weather, and Mick Kjar reporting the farm news.

*Daron Selvig & Lisa Budeau anchor the 5pm newscast on KVLY with Chief Meteorologist Hutch Johnson, replacing longtime Chief Meteorologist Tom Szymanski now of KXMB-TV.
*KXJB's 5:30 newscast is similar to the 5pm newscast. It is anchored by Daron Selvig & Lisa Budeau, but instead has Shawna Olson with weather and Rich Lodewyk with sports.
*The 6pm newscast on KVLY and the 10pm newscast on both KVLY and KXJB consist of Mike Morken and Robin Huebner as co-anchors, Hutch Johnson with weather and Scott Peters on sports .

*Matt Bradley anchors the weekend newscasts, along with Meteorologist Lisa Green and sports anchor Brian Shawn.

Missing from the picture is General Manager, and longtime anchor Charley Johnson. Johnson is still General Manager of the two stations, but is no longer on the air, for the first time in 32 years. He does, however, appear in the "Manager's Mailbag" segment, in which he addresses viewer concerns and opinions.
