Charlie Stuart (born November 5, 1951) is currently running against Congressman Ric Keller for a Congressional seat in the state of Florida. Stuart graduated from the University of Florida in 1973 with a B.S. in Business Administration (Marketing). Stuart worked as President of several companies during the 1970s and 1980s, including George Stuart, Inc. and Eagle Office Supply, Inc. He has since worked as a consultant, speaker, author, and adjunct professor at the Hamilton Holt School of Rollins College. Stuart has been involved in the community as a Bible study teacher at a Baptist church, President of the YMCA, Little league umpire, board member of the United Way of Central Florida and the Orlando Regional Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors, and President of the Central Florida Crime Commission. Stuart has been married to his wife, Barbara, for 32 years. The couple have three children (John, Julie, and Sarah). He is a member of the local political family that includes brothers Jacob Stuart, president of the Orlando Chamber of Commerce; Robert Franklin Stuart, Orlando City Commissioner representing the College Park area; and former state senator George Stuart, Jr.

Charles Samuel "Charlie" Stuart, a lifelong resident of the Orlando community, was raised with five brothers and sisters in a deeply religious home guided by the values of family, faith, character and responsibility. His father and mother groomed Charlie into manhood with what would be the most important lessons of his life: act with integrity, be courageous and confident, and take care of others, especially your community. It is that carefully nurtured commitment to others that has compelled the Stuart boys into notable elected and public service offices over the years. In fact, the monument outside the Citrus Bowl Stadium, as well as the Citrus Bowl trophy, bear the name of their father as a lasting testimonial to the sacrifice and service which heralds the Stuart family legacy.

A proud product of Orange County Public Schools, Charlie attended Princeton Elementary, Robert E. Lee Junior High and Edgewater High School. He furthered his education at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration. While in Gainesville, Charlie played freshman football for the Florida Gators and earned a greater respect for our men and women of the armed services by completing two years of Army ROTC.

For the next 30 years Charlie dedicated his life to family, community and work in the office products business founded by his father, George Stuart, Inc. As his father’s apprentice, he learned the important role small businesses play in the foundation of a community. Later in his career, Charlie branched out on his own as a marketing consultant, author and speaker. For 16 years, Charlie advised small and medium and large-sized businesses, trade associations and professional practices across the nation.

Throughout his career, Charlie remained steadfast in his commitments to Central Florida’s children, working families and communities. As a respected business leader, he served for a decade on the Orlando Regional Healthcare Foundation Board, including serving as chairman of the finance committee. Charlie guided the Central Florida YMCA in a variety of volunteer leadership capacities for more than 20 years, helping to expand the organization’s impact on Central Florida families. He played an integral role, in partnership with Harris Rosen and Linda Chapin, to save the Aquatic Center on International Drive and develop the YMCA Aquatic Center.

A 27-year veteran Little League umpire, Charlie also has served on the House of Hope advisory board. For over 20 years Charlie has taught Bible study, along with his wife Barbara, to young and median age adults. He enjoys the time invested in the lives of couples, mentoring them to lead faith-centered, committed, and responsible lives. An ordained deacon, Charlie and his family continue to be active in the First Baptist Church of Orlando.

Today, he and Barbara, his wife of 34 years, have three children, John (28), Julie (25) and Sarah (23) and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Jackson.
