- Bridge Trafford
Bridge Trafford is a hamlet and
civil parish situated near toChester , in Chester District,Cheshire ,England . The hamlet lies some convert|2|mi|km|0 to the north of the centre of the village ofMickle Trafford on theA56 road (gbmapping|SJ450713). In 2004 its population was 40. [Latham, p.9.]It is believed that the
Roman road from Chester toWilderspool (now part ofWarrington ) passed through the parish. In 1991 a Romanbronze brooch was found in the parish. [Latham, pp.12–14.]Immediately to the south of the hamlet the
River Gowy is crossed by Trafford Bridge. A stone bridge was first built here in 1410 and there was probably a wooden bridge before that. After the Civil War the bridge needed repairs and these were carried out in 1648. [Latham, p.25.]References
