- Pöbel Railway
Pöbel Railway (German: Pöbeltalbahn) was a narrow gauge railway project for connection of Saxon Schmiedeberg on Weisseritz Railway with Bohemian
Moldava on standard gaugeMost -Moldava line. The railway, climbing through the Valley of Pöbel (Pöbeltal) to the ridge ofOre Mountains , was expected to transportlignite from Most Basin.The construction began on March 10, 1920. The railway station Schmiedelberg was realigned and enlarged, however the additional railway tracks were not laid. Till 1921 was the intended track marked out till km 9.16. On November 14, 1923 was the construction aborted. At that time the track was till planned railway station Niederpöbel completed and several other track sections were under construction. Some track sections are still recognizable today, especially the section from Schmiedeberg to Niederpöbel and the track around projected stop Wahlsmühle.
