Liberins, otherwise known as releasing factors, are
hormone s produced by thehypothalamus that travel down the hypothalamicpituitary axis, to the posterior pituitary and cause the release of the corresponding hormone. For exampleThyroliberin causes release ofTSH andGonadoliberin causes the release ofFSH and LH.Statin s are hypothalamic release inhibiting hormones/factors. For exampleprolactostatin inhibits the release ofprolactin .
