LocusSupplementaryData =Heat shock 70kDa protein 1B, also known as HSPA1B, is a human
gene .cite journal | author = Milner CM, Campbell RD | title = Structure and expression of the three MHC-linked HSP70 genes | journal = Immunogenetics | volume = 32 | issue = 4 | pages = 242–51 | year = 1990 | pmid = 1700760 | url = | issn = ] This intronless gene encodes a 70kDaheat shock protein which is a member of the heat shock protein 70 family.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: HSPA1A heat shock 70kDa protein 1B| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch= 3304 | accessdate = ]Function
In conjuction with other heat shock proteins, this protein stabilizes existing proteins against aggregation and mediates the folding of newly translated proteins in the cytosol and in organelles. It is also involved in the
ubiquitin -proteasome pathway through interaction with the AU-rich element RNA-binding protein 1. The gene is located in themajor histocompatibility complex class III region, in a cluster with two closely related genes which encode similar proteins.cite journal | author = Ito Y, Ando A, Ando H, Ando J, Saijoh Y, Inoko H, Fujimoto H | title = Genomic structure of the spermatid-specific hsp70 homolog gene located in the class III region of the major histocompatibility complex of mouse and man | journal = J. Patients with chronic
hepatitis B orhepatitis C virus infection who harbor a HSPA1B-1267single nucleotide polymorphism have a higher risk for developinghepatocellular carcinoma .cite journal | author = Jeng JE, Tsai JF, Chuang LY, Ho MS, Lin ZY, Hsieh MY, Chen SC, Chuang WL, Wang LY, Yu ML, Dai CY, Chang JG | title = Heat shock protein A1B 1267 polymorphism is highly associated with risk and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma: a case-control study | journal = Medicine (Baltimore) | volume = 87 | issue = 2 | pages = 87–98 | year = 2008 | month = March | pmid = 18344806 | doi = 10.1097/MD.0b013e31816be95c | url = | issn = ]ee also
