- Alabama-LSU rivalry
The Alabama-LSU Rivalry refers to a college football rivalry between
Southeastern Conference members Louisiana State University Tigers and University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama holds the series lead 42-22-5. The teams first played in 1902 in Tuscaloosa and since 1964 the two have played annually, increasing the rivalry. Much of the hatred in this rivalry can be attributed to a 14-0-1 record Alabama had in Baton Rouge from 1971 to 1998. The rivalry has become more heated since Alabama hired former Tiger head coachNick Saban in 2007. In 2007 LSU beat Alabama 41-34, their fifth consecutive win and the highest scoring contest in the series history. Other notable current trends in the series include 4 straight victories by LSU in games played at Alabama and 10 LSU victories in the last 13 games played at Alabama. This rivalry showcases one of the strongest programs of the 1970s, Alabama, against one of the strongest programs in college football today in LSU. Alabama won back to back titles in 1978 and 1979 and LSU is the only two time BCS national champion.Outcomes and Scores
