Description: A large village, previously known as 'Amgadda'.
Location: Block - Ketugram -I, P.S. - Ketugram, Sub-Division -
Katwa , District - Burdwan , state-West Bengal , Country - India. Situated in the pocket ofBurdwan , Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia District. 29 km by road from Katwa, 32 km fromShantiniketan . The village was formerly under the Birbhum District, in 1946-47 it was incorpoorated in Burdwan District.Area: 4800 acres (7 sq. km approx).
Population: Near about 8000. Both Hindu and Muslim flavours.
Communication: Mainly road, connected to the rest of India through Metal Road Net.

Fact File: Probably, there was a Township in this locality during 1100 - 1200 A.D. In many parts of Amgoria, archaeological remnants of the then establishment have been found while laying foundation of building. Recently, an idol of Lord Bishnu have been unearthed while digging a pond in the heart of the village. Crafted in black stone, the idol bears resemblance with the sculptures made during the 'Pal Reign' in Bengal.
