January 13 ,1314 -July 29 ,1363 ), was a baron in thePeerage of England .John Bardolf was in his minority when his father, Sir
Thomas Bardolf, 2nd Lord Bardolf , Knt., died in 1331 and in 1336, upon proof of his age being given, he did homage and was awarded livery of his lands which in addition to Wormegay included the lands and manors of Cantley, & Caistor,Norfolk , Owmby,Lincolnshire , andAddington, Surrey . His mother was Agnes, daughter ofWilliam de Grandison, 1st Lord Grandison .He was summoned to parliament from
January 22 ,1336 , toJune 1 ,1363 by Writs directed to "Johanni Bardolf de Wirmegey".This nobleman participated in the glories of the martial reign of King Edward III, notably in Scotland, Brittany, and even Germany, and attained the dignity of
Knight banneret .His lordship married Elizabeth, daughter and co-heiress of Sir
Roger d'Amory , whomWilliam Dugdale calls "that great woman", by whom he acquired a considerable accession of landed property. They had two daughters, Agnes and Elizabeth (or Isabel), and one son and heir.John, Lord Bardolf, died at
Assisi inItaly , and was succeeded by his son,William 4th Lord Bardolf .References
