When the first chorus starts, clouds are shown racing by and it suddenly changes to nighttime. After the end of the chorus the clouds clear and it is daytime again, however the band is now playing in a forest setting. When the chorus starts for the second time, it again becomes night and Chris is shown walking out of the forest through a door. When he emerges the band is waiting for him on a city rooftop, it being daytime. Upon the third and final chorus, it once again becomes night and the band is shown playing on the rooftop with the lit up skyscrapers of the city behind them.
The video debuted at #14 on
VH1 'sVSpot Top 20 Countdown , and the following week became the band's fourth consecutive video to reach #1 on the countdown. It had spent six consecutive weeks at #1. On March 15th, it was dethroned by Rihanna's video for "Don't Stop the Music". It went back to #1 the following only to be dethroned by Leona Lewis's video for "Bleeding Love". The following week at debuted at #89 on the Hot 100, and peaked at #24, giving the band their fourth top forty Hot 100 hit from the album. It debuted on the "Billboard" Pop 100 at #99, peaking at #17, and the Adult Top 40 at #29, where it has reached #1, becoming the band's third number 1 and fourth top five hit on that chart.
