Bernard Lang was born in
Linz , and studied at theBruckner Conservatorium there. Besides composition he studied piano, philosophy, linguistics and theory of harmony, and computer music as well. His tutors were, amongst others, A. Dobrowolsky andGösta Neuwirth . From 1977 to 1981 he took part in a number of jazz ensembles. As of 1988, he sarted to teach as well, inGraz . Co-teacher have been of influence, like the aforementioned Neuwirth, and, moreover, composers such asGeorg Friedrich Haas .As a result of his broad education, his music can not easily be lumped together. He combines various musical styles and ideas within a composition. One of his composition cycles, Differenz / Wiederholungen, is based on the philosophical ideas of
Gilles Deleuze .Compositions
