Carl Gentry

Carl Gentry is a musician who regularly plays in the New Jersey area. He is heavily influenced by blues and classic rock. He has been known to play with such bands as Brian Kirk and the Jirks and the Mike Dalton band.

Early career

Carl began playing guitar at an early age, and joined his first professional band in 1989. It was dubbed Double Standard and gigged in and around the Pennsylvania/Delaware college scene. Carl was put as the lead guitarist and led the band to some fame among students. Double Standard was known for its noticble blues roots. Carl then left Double Standard and from 1992 to 1994 he joined the Mike Dalton Band, where he played their pop/rock originals. The Mike Dalton Band received more attention then his last band; they played in such venues as The Bitter End in New York City and the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. In the mid to late 90's he played guitar for the notorious Brian Kirk and the Jirks, where he befriended Brian Kirk. Carl and Brian still play together to this day.

Carl has opened for national bands such as Warren Zevon, John Eddie, and Southside Johnny.

Solo

Carl then left Brian Kirk and the Jirks and started his solo career. Carl Gentry began playing original songs [http://www.carlgentrymusic.com/music.php] he wrote himself. These include My Old Car, I Can't Get Over You, and Friends Forever. Carl gigs around the Middletown, New Jersey area.

Gear

Carl mostly uses his trademark Takamine acoustic guitar for live shows. He has been known to use a variety of acoustic and electric guitars, mostly Fender Stratocasters.

Teaching
