Robert Harwood

Robert Harwood

Robert William Harwood (October 27 1826 – June 29 1897) was a Quebec farmer and political figure. He represented Vaudreuil in the Canadian House of Commons as a Liberal-Conservative member from 1872 to 1878.

He was born in Montreal, Lower Canada, the son of Robert Unwin Harwood, and educated at the Collège Saint-Sulpice there. In 1826, he married Mary Charlotte McGillis. He was a captain in the local militia and also served as warden for Vaudreuil County. Harwood ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Quebec assembly in 1871. He was defeated in a bid for reelection to the federal seat in 1878 by Jean-Baptiste Mongenais.

His brother Henry was also a member of the House of Commons.
