The Morkie (also Yorktese or Malkie) is a designer dog (a mixed-breed ) that is a combination of the Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier breeds.

Appearance

Although variations exist, generally the Morkie takes on the appearance of one breed that it hails from. Usually the Morkie will have a dark appearance from the Yorkie but where the Yorkie is brown/gold, the Morkie will be brown (from the Yorkie).

Some Morkies can be white/silver with a wiry coat, some can be black/gold and some white with fluffy curly hair. I believe, if the father is a white Maltese and the mother is standard colored Black/Gold Yorkie, then the coloring you will get in puppies will be white/silver and will have wiry hair straight like a Yorkie. If the scenario is reversed, then the puppies will be black/gold and some white/silver but with teddy bear soft curly coat.

Camaraderie

Morkies make excellent companions. They tend to get along quite well with children and other animals. Although variations can exist from dog to dog (as with any other dog), the Morkie combines the good health of the Maltese with the ease of use and colorings of the Yorkie. Usually, you will know it is a Yorktese or Morkie with the brown fur in its ears and black around him/her.
