Sonomicrometry

Sonomicrometry is the measurement of distances between targets from the differences in time of their detection in an acoustic signal. Typically, echogenic reflectors will be embedded in a material and the material will be insonified with a transducer. The received signal will be analyzed for the displacement of the targets from the transducer based on the time delay and speed of sound in the material, and the distance between the targets will be calculated from that.
