- Knud Jessen
Knud Jessen (
November 29 ,1884 -April 14 ,1971 ) was a Danishbotanist and quaternary geologist.He was state geologist 1917-1931. In 1931, he succeeded C.H. Ostenfeld as professor ofbotany at theUniversity of Copenhagen and director of theCopenhagen Botanical Garden , a position he held until his retirement in 1955. His scientific works mainly concernvegetation history during theEemian interglacial , thelate glacial period of theWisconsin glaciation and in theHolocene investigated usingpollen analysis [Böcher, T.W. Robert Lloyd Praeger and made field-work on thequaternary geology ofIreland during1934 -1935 .
