Lužec nad Cidlinou is a village in the Hradec Králové District of the Czech Republic. It is well-known to it's local area for it's relaxed and friendly spirit and exciting weekend entertainment with pubs and parties. Throughout the village there can be seen numbers of outdoor swimming pools, a recently renovated park and a football field which all are examples of remainings of the socialistic investments made by the old czechoslovakian government inspired by the early social reformation made by Joseph Stalin in the Soviet Union. Just like most Czech villages Lužec nad Cidlinou is a popular weekend accommodation for people from cities with lack of touch with nature. Many local families have lived in Lužec nad Cidlinou for numerous generations such as the family of mayor Jaroslav Bareš.

The official name of the village is Lužec nad Cidlinou, but is mostly just simply referred to as "Lužec". Worth mentioning is the fact that there is another "Lužec" in the Mělník District named Lužec nad Vltavou but it rarely causes any confusion.
