Delanteras Electricas

Delanteras Electricas ("The electric forwards") was the name given to the forward line of Spanish football team Real Oviedo between 1933-36 because of their revolutionary approach to football tactics. Oviedo with the attacking players Isidro Lángara, Herrerita, Emilín, Gale (all four represented Spain in this period) as well as Casuco and Gallart modernised football. The players circa 1933 were all in their teens or early 20s and with their pace and running off the ball tied in with sharp passing and one touch football they played in a style 30/40 years before its time. All this was tied into a rigid training and fitness regime started by English manager Fred Pentland.Isidro Langara was the Pichichi Trophy (top goalscorer) winner in Spain 3 years running leading up to the Spanish Civil War as the team broke all scoring records. (174 goals in 62 league games.)

With the Civil War the team broke up Langara emigrating to South America, Herrerita and Emilin signing to FC Barcelona, Gale to Racing Santander and Gallart to Racing Ferrol among others.
