Giovanni Battista Cassevari (1789-1876) was an Italian painter, born in
Genoa . As a boy, he attended the academy ofBenvenuti (painter) inFlorence . After having taken part in the wars of 1813-14, and been present at the battle atParis , he returned toTurin andGenoa , and in 1824 went toFlorence andRome . In these cities he painted a great number of miniature portraits. The portraits in oil afterwards executed by him in England are painted in the style of the Italian and Dutch masters.Buckner (painter) andCrispini (painter) were his pupils. a 'Madonna and Child' for the church atFrosini .References
