Early years
Sebastian Ciceri grew up in a musical family, and is the eldest son of Argentine parents.
At the age of 14, Ciceri discovered a strong desire to study the electric bass. His focus in mastering the instrument would eventually lead him to perform with countless bands in the Los Angeles area between 1990 to 1993. Primarily playing a Fender Jazz 5 string at the time, Ciceri used an aggressive picking style like many rock groups of that era.
In 1994, Ciceri joined Los Angeles band, Getting Red. They released their highly acclaimed debut EP, "Otis" the same year. The band would forge a strong following by becoming headlining favorites at clubs like The Whiskey and The Troubadour. After two years, Ciceri moved away from the band in order to study the mechanics of music software technology. This would enable him to freely write and record his own experimental material.
Portable
In 1999, Sebastian Ciceri accepted an invitation to join as permanent bassist with Los Angeles band
Portable . The four piece, who signed a recording contract with New York based labelTVT Records , completed successful East and West coast tours by the summer of 2000. After a small break, writing resumed in preparation for Portable's 2nd full length follow-up."Only If You Look Up" took nearly a year to complete and was produced by
Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins) and mixed byTim Palmer (U2). Released in April 2002, the album earned excellent reviews and the single, Roll Over And Play Dead, was also featured in the 2002 Motion Picture and Soundtrack forSwimfan .2003 – Present
Portable delivered their final record, "Starsongs" in the fall of 2003. The band would then go on indefinite hiatus that winter.
By this time, Ciceri had adopted theErnie Ball Music Man Stingray as his primary recording and performance bass.Since the departure, Ciceri has established himself as a versatile music artist able to switch between music genres.
"MuddCutter" was released in 2004 under the pseudonym RV. This was a purely dance/electronica effort targeting the club sound and was only made available as a digital download compilation.Ciceri has since produced original music for well regarded Media Branding companies like
Imaginary Forces ,Verb! Media ,
