map_caption =The Gurnia River is a
tributary of theTismana River inRomania . The river was joining the Tismana river through the succession of waterfalls called "La Pişători", located near the Stârmina Rock.In the XIVth century, Saint Nicodim decided to build a monastery in the area of the waterfalls. The Tismana Monastery, whose church was completed in 1378, is the oldest monastery in Romania. During the construction of the monastery part of the river was diverted and only the remaining part now crosses the waterfall area.
