Luis Vega De Castro

The artist

Luis Vega De Castro was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 4, 1944) is a cuban artist. Since 1980 he resides in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. He develops the Graphic Design, Painting, Drawing and the Illustration.Between 1965-1967 he studied in the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro Havana, Cuba. In 1979 he was degree in Art History, in Havana University, Havana, Cuba.

In 1985 he presented 'Luis Vega', in Key Biscayne Library, Key Biscayne, Florida, U.S.A. And in 1997 he exhibited 'Luis Vega. Recent Works', Elite Fine Art, Coral Gables, Florida, U.S.A.

He was part of many collectives exhibitions, among them we can quote in 1970 "Cuba Alegre como su Sol" (sponsored by Mario Paioti), in Florence, Italy. In 1973 he was included in the Iér Festival International d'Affiches du Cinema. XXVIème Festival International du Film, in Cannes, France. In 1979 he was one of the selected artist to conform "1000 Carteles Cubanos de Cine. 20 Aniversario de la Cinematografía Cubana", in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba. In 1982 he participated in the XXI Premi Internacional de Dibuix Joan Miró. Fundació Joan Miró, Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani, Parc de Montjuic, in Barcelona, Spain. And in 1995 some of his works were selected for "Elite Fine Art", Coral Gables, in Florida, U.S.A.

Awards

During his life he had obtained many awards and recognitions, among them we can mention in 1972 the First Prize in a Poster Contest "La Mujer cubana y la Revolución en América Latina", Cuba. In 1976 he gained a Mention at the VI Salón Nacional Juvenil de Artes Plásticas. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba. Between 1984-1985 he has been awarded with the Cintas Fellowship, New York, U.S.A. And in 1989 he obtained the Angel Award, Florida, U.S.A.
