John Cardinal Njue (born 1944 in Embu, Kenya) is the current Archbishop of Nairobi. In 1986 he was made Bishop of Embu, Kenya. He was appointed Coadjutor archbishop of Nyeri in 2002. On 17 October 2007 he became Archbishop of Nairobi.infobox cardinalstyles

Education

He was educated at the Minor Seminary of Meru and the Pontifical Urbaniana University, where he earned a licentiate in philosophy.

Priesthood

He was ordained on 6 January 1973 by Pope Paul VI. He served as Professor of philosophy at the National Seminary of Bungoma, diocese of Kakmega, 1975 and later, its vice-rector; and finally, its rector. In 1982, he completed a course in spirituality in the United States. Rector of the Philosophical Seminary of Meru, in Nairobi. He knows several languages.

On 17 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI announced that he would make Njue a Cardinal. Njue was created cardinal priest in the consistory at St. Peter's Basilica on 24 November 2007 with the title of "Preziosissimo Sangue di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo"(newly established).
