Arthur Divett Hayter, 1st Baron Haversham of Bracknell (
9 August 1835 –10 May 1917 ), politician.Hayter, only son of
Sir William Goodenough Hayter, 1st Baronet , was born on9 August 1835 . AfterEton College andBrasenose College, Oxford , he joined theGrenadier Guards . He was Liberal MP for Wells (1865–8), for Bath (1873–85), and for Walsall (1893–95). Hayter was a reliable Liberal.After succeeding his father as second baronet in 1878, he was a junior whip from 1880 to 1882 and was
Financial Secretary to the War Office from 1882 to 1885. He chaired the public accounts committee from 1901 to 1905 and was createdBaron Haversham of Bracknell in January 1906.In 1866 he married Henrietta Hope and lived at South Hill Park, Berkshire. They had no children and his titles became extinct when he died on
10 May 1917 .
