Jill Clarke Harrison is a British long distance runner from Sheffield.
Background
Clarke Harrison grew up in a small village in Derbyshire. She didn't discover running until encouraged in a PE lesson to train for the Sheffield schools championships.
Hard work and determination from that day lead her to run for Britain at the age of 19. By this time she had already been 2nd in the English Schools.
Early career
She studied at the Birmingham and Loughborough Universities and turned down a scholarship to a leading American University.

She qualified for the Commonwealth Games (but had to pull out due to injury), become World Student Champion and came 14th in the London Marathon.
Her time in the London Marathon, 2 hours 34 minutes 19 seconds was the fastest Marathon debut by a British woman until Paula Radcliffe in 2002.
