subnational entities meet. There are currently 157 international tripoints on earth. Usually such a place is a site of special border markings and memorials.Usually, the more neighbours a country has, the more international tripoints that country has.
China with 14 tripoints andRussia with 12 lead the list of states by number of tripoints. Within Europe landlockedAustria has nine tripoints. Island countries like the UK orJapan have no international tripoints, nor have states with only one neighbour state likePortugal orDenmark .
