Anguimorphs of the infraorder "Anguimorpha" include alligator lizards, galliwasps, legless lizards, knobby lizards, monitor lizards, and mosasaurs, as well as the Gila Monster and Mexican Beaded Lizard. The infraorder was named by Fürbringer in 1900 to include all autarchoglossans closer to "Varanus" and "Anguis" than "Scincus".
