Wondo Genet Essential Oils Research Sub Center

Wondo Genet Essential Oils Research Sub Center is a new emerging research center in Ethiopia focusing on pharmaceutically and industrially important plant species. It is found 270 km (170 miles) south of the capital Adis Ababa.

Spices such as coriander, black cumin, white cumin; aromatic plants such as "Eucalyptus citrodora", Mentha species, lavender, geranium, etc; medicinal plants such as "prunus africana", "Eucalyptus globulos", Artemisia, Stevia, Aloe, etc and non-edible fixed oil bearing plants including castor, vernonia, jatropha, etc" are being studied and maintained.

In addition gum and incense yielding tree spices are also among the focus of the center. More than 22 experiments are laid out in the sub-center focusing on few species of above mentioned species.
