Life and Works
Ali was active in his college years in Iraqi resistance efforts against Saddam Hussein. He was privy to techniques, propaganda tactics and strategies of various covert groups. He met and married his American wife while he was still living in Kurdistan. In September 1995, he became a born-again Christian, and thereafter commenced his writings on Islam. His writings and seminars over the last 15 years have taken him throughout the United States.
In August, 2001, Ali launched Christian-Islamic Forum to advise the public on the agenda of radical Islam well underway in the West. His first book, Inside Islam: A Guide for Catholics, Ascension Press, 2003, was published to get the basic elements of Islam in the hands of those who wanted to read more.
His second book, Out of Islam, Free at Last, Tate Publishing, 2007, presents a manual for engaging Muslims in productive conversations on the Koran. Mr. Ali is a member of the American Academy of Religion, where he delivered in March, 2008, a dissertation on the Theology of Slavery in Islam. The book begins with an account of his youth as a Muslim Kurd, through which he endured jail and torture. He writes that he escaped three death sentences under Saddam Hussein.
Ali continues to challenge Muslims' historical misconceptions using the Qur'an and the Hadith. He is a regular speaker on Islam, and in Iraq in particular. He has been featured on numerous religious radio and television programs, including the EWTN's The Journey Home. In 2002, he was the co-host of the EWTN video series Islam and Christianity with Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J.
