- Cool girl skateboards
According to Girls Learn to Ride (http://girlslearntoride.com) girls skateboarding has been growing for the last several years. We see more and more girls out at the skate parks and girl skaters are even being featured on TV, and in TV shows such as Hannah Montana and That’s So Raven. A few companies have started to fill the need for girls to have their own products. One of these companies is Cool Girls Skateboards and the other is Curly Grrlz Skateboards. They are the first successful skateboard labels for girls only.
Cool Grrrls (http://www.coolgrrrls.com) was started in 1997 in
Newport Beach, California as a music site. They cover bands such asSocial Distortion , Texas Terri, Backyard Babies, Henry Rollins, and the Supersuckers. Cool Grrrls released two well received compilation CDs, featuring girl fronted bands from around the world, titled, Cool Grrrls Kick Ass! 1 & 2.In 2004 CoolGrrrls.com was featured in a German
skateboard catalog called, Titus. After that feature they started receiving emails on their music site from skaters asking for Cool Girls Decks.Since there are similarities in the indie music and the action sports scene, and being skaters themselves it was easy for them to start the company.
Now, Cool Girls Decks (http://www.CoolGirlDecks.com) out of
Huntington Beach, California has a huge web presence, also reports on the action sports world, and is also being distributed around the United States by VK Distributions out ofSanta Ana, California .Within three years Cool Girl Decks became the number one company in the US that makes decks for girls only. They also have the top ranked girls' skate team. Featuring the World Cups’ 2006, #1 ranked Bowl Skater, Holly Lyons. Holly is also one of just a few girls in the world that have been invited to compete in the last 5
X Games . The other team members are, Brittany Krause, Lexi Barclay, and Alize Montes.
