Stephen McEveety

Stephen "Steve" McEveety is an American film producer.

The son of Joseph McEveety, and nephew of Bernard McEveety, Hollywood film directors/producers, he has over 30 years experience in senior positions in the entertainment industry. As a child, Steve McEveety appeared in episodes of the golden age TV series Gunsmoke, "My Three Sons", and "Star Trek".

McEveety partnered with John Shepherd and Todd Burns to launch "Mpower Pictures". The company's first release was the Toronto Award Winning "Bella". He recently completed an exclusive producing deal with Mel Gibson's Icon Productions where he executive produced "What Women Want","Payback", "Anna Karenina", "Immortal Beloved","The Man Without a Face" and "Braveheart", most of which starred Gibson. These films garnered ten Academy Award nominations and won five.

Gibson and McEveety's most profitable (and controversial) film was "The Passion of the Christ". McEveety also produced Airborne, which he also wrote, as well as"187", "Papparazzi", and "We Were Soldiers".

On October 3rd 2008 "An American Carol" written & directed by David Zucker will be released on nearly 2000 screens in the U.S. "The Stoning of Soraya M.", written & directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, that took 2nd Runner Up at the Toronto Film Festival this year will hit theaters in late 2008. Both films produced by McEveety are the first films to come out of his newly formed production company Mpower Pictures.
