Adsdaq

Adsdaq is an advertising exchange operated by ContextWeb. It attracts inventory from various publishers, mostly non-branded and part of the "long-tail". Their current advertisers are mainly advertising agencies. ADSDAQ is in its initial stages of development. Recently, ADSDAQ has beta-tested a 'buying desk' for advertisers wishing to manage media buys across the ADSDAQ network.

Some of its main competitors include AdECN, which is owned by Microsoft, Right Media, which is owned by Yahoo, and DoubleClick AdX, which is owned by DoubleClick, a subsidiary of Google.

Some criticisms of ADSDAQ include lack of inventory in certain content channels leading to lower inventory fill rates. Also, ADSDAQ may not be considered a true ad exchange due to its similarities to ad networks. ADSDAQ does not operate with other networks, like other exchanges. In addition, many sites on the ADSDAQ network are part of the 'long tail', that is, the average website generating lower hits and a lower name recognition. These sites are generally not a part of traditional media buys.

ADSDAQ is part of a growing trend of online advertising exchanges that has been noted by many well known ad industry publications such as iMedia Connection [http://www.imediaconnection.com/content/15887.asp] and MediaWeek [http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/recent_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003648865] . Other important companies in the area of ad exchanges include AdECN - purchased by Microsoft in August, 2007; RightMedia purchased by Yahoo! in April 2007; and Doubleclick by Google in May 2007.
